Service to My Department, College, and University

I strongly believe in faculty self-governance, and strive to put my belief into practice. In 2019, I received Loyola University’s award for service, an award that is given to only one faculty member at the university per year.

I currently work as the Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and I served as Chair of my department and continue to do tasks within it as varied as heading hiring committees, representing the department as a faculty senator, and managing the department’s website and social media presence.

I also work on a wide range of college- and university-level standing committees that oversee such areas as the curriculum for the college of arts and sciences (CCC), academic programs for the university (SCAP), general education (SCLC) requirements for all undergraduates, and student retention. Furthermore, I was a committee member of the Women’s Studies Program and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (CHOIR) for many years. In the recent past, I have served as a committee member disciplinary bodies including the Board of Review and the Academic Integrity Council.

I help to coach one of Loyola’s academic team, the Ethics Bowl team.

Finally, I am proud to be one of Loyola’s Title IX Advocates, who help survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment seek justice and regain piece of mind.
