  • Leadership: Serves as the College Chief Academic and Administrative Officer. Provides overall academic, administrative, and financial leadership while developing a strategic vision for the college in collaboration with faculty and staff.  

  • Mission: Supports the university’s mission, philosophy, institutional history, and Jesuit values.

  • Administrative Responsibilities: Responsible in collaboration with the college’s faculty for planning, development, assessment, and subsequent revision of college curricula and for all matters of rank and status, including tenure. Responsible in collaboration with the Associate and Assistant Deans for interpretation and implementation of all university and college regulations, policies, and procedures. 

  • Faculty and Staff Oversight: Oversees operations in 13 departments and 3 non-departmental interdisciplinary programs. Supervises 182 faculty members, 13 staff members, and approximately 1,500 students in college degree programs. Oversees course scheduling - roughly 1,100 courses per academic year. Manages recruitment, selection, development, and retention of faculty and staff. 

  • Research, Scholarship, and Faculty Development: Promotes research culture by facilitating faculty research initiatives, securing external funding, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. Supports the dissemination of research findings and creative works through publications, exhibitions, and presentations.

  • Shared Governance: Engages in and promotes shared governance and shared responsibility with faculty, staff, students, and university leaders. Serves ex officio as a non-voting member of all standing committees of the college.

  • Student Success: Monitors and promotes academic success of students in the college; certifies student candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as all other forms of certification. Reviews and takes action regarding student admission, probation, suspension, dismissal, and academic standing of all students.

  • Budget and Resources Management: Develops and manages the college's budget in alignment with institutional priorities and strategic goals.

  • Accreditation and Assessment: Ensures compliance with accreditation standards. Facilitates the assessment of student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and institutional effectiveness.

  • Fundraising and Alumni Engagement: Collaborates with University Advancement on fundraising and identifies potential sources of revenue for the university through contacts with government, foundations, the local business community, and alumni groups.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Promotes a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Develops and maintains initiatives that promote great diversity.

  • University Relations: Collaborates with the Deans of other colleges on university-wide initiatives. Advocates for the college in consultation with administrators of the university; represents the college on university committees (e.g., SCAP, SCLC, and Provost’s Council). Reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Associate Dean, College of Arts & Sciences, Loyola University New Orleans, September 2021 - May 2023 

  • Academic Program Development: Collaborated with department Chairs, faculty, and the Dean to develop, evaluate, and enhance undergraduate and graduate academic programs. Ensured alignment with disciplinary standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional goals. Oversaw the implementation of all facets of the college’s degree programs: Loyola Core, major, minor, adjunct, languages, and elective courses.

  • Mission: Helped the Dean’s to support the university’s mission, philosophy, institutional history, and Jesuit values.

  • Faculty Support and Development: Provided support and mentorship to faculty in areas such as teaching pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment, and research. 

  • Student Success: Collaborated with academic advisors, the Student Success Center, and faculty to support student achievement, retention, and graduation. Recommended action regarding student admission, probation, suspension, dismissal, and academic standing of all students. 

  • Dispute Resolution and Student Discipline: Served as adjudicator for student grade appeals and cases of violations of the University Academic Honor Code. 

  • Other Student-Based Administrative Responsibilities: Managed external credit (i.e., AP, CLEP, etc.) and non-traditional credit programs and the granting of credit by exam. Oversaw the maintenance of student records needed to support the work of academic advisors. Supervised and coordinated all student academic advising/orientation programs for the college. Oversaw the college portion of the University Bulletin.

  • Accreditation and Assessment: Assisted with accreditation processes and ensured compliance with accreditation standards. Facilitated the assessment of student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and institutional effectiveness. Used assessment data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborated with the Dean, the College Planning Team, and other academic leaders in the college to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives that advance the college's mission and goals. Contributed to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to academic programs and operations.

  • Budget and Resource Management: Assisted with budget planning and management for academic programs and initiatives. 

  • Shared Governance: Facilitated communication and collaboration among faculty, department chairs, staff, and the Dean. Represented the college on committees and task forces related to academic affairs, faculty governance, and institutional planning: The Associate Deans Council (Chair 21-23), the Dean’s Advisory Council (21-23), the College Curriculum Committee (21-23), the College Planning Team (21-23), and the Dean's Student Advisory Council (Chair 2021-2022)

  • Faculty and Staff Oversight: Directly supervised the Assistant Dean, the College’s Technical Advisors, and the Dean’s Office’s Administrative Assistant.
