Leonard A. Kahn

I work at Loyola University New Orleans, and I currently serve as the Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and, ex officio, as the Gerald N. Gaston Distinguished Professor in Religion & Science. I am also an Associate Professor of Philosophy. I was the 2021-2022 Donald and Beverely Freeman Fellow at the U.S. Naval Academy’s Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership. I do research and teach primarily in moral theory and applied ethics and at the moment I focus on the intersection of just war theory and the ethics of technology (especially robotics and AI).

If you’re looking for my CV, my letter of interest in the permanent Deanship at Loyola, and my slides for my presentation, you’ve come to the right place.

Currently, I’m reading (or rereading):

  • James Carse, Finite and Infinite Games

  • John Maddox Roberts, The Catiline Conspiracy

  • Simon Critchley, Tragedy, the Greeks, and Us

  • Alan Ryan, On Politics
